Håndværkernøglen's website has been modernised and extended over the years with new features and integrations. I've migrated the platform from Umbraco 7 to 11, optimised key pages to achieve up to 100/100 in Google PageSpeed, and automated administrative tasks through integrations with the Danish company register, AI and self-service features.
Håndværkernøglen had an extensive tradesperson directory built on Umbraco 7. The platform needed modernizing, but contained large amounts of content and custom functionality that had to be preserved during an upgrade to a newer Umbraco version.
Much of the platform's value comes from its visibility on Google. Performance and SEO were therefore particularly important, and changes to page structures and URLs had to be handled carefully to avoid losing existing search rankings.
Maintaining company information and updating content also involved a considerable amount of manual work. There was a need for more automation and better self-service features to reduce routine administration for both the staff and the listed businesses.
I migrated the platform from Umbraco 7 to Umbraco 11, adapted the custom code and preserved existing content and URL structures. This provided an updated technical foundation for further development.
I've worked on performance optimization and technical SEO, including custom routing, CSS and JavaScript optimization, and improvements to page structure. This has resulted in significantly faster pages, with several achieving scores of up to 100/100 in Google PageSpeed.
I've also developed an integration with the Danish Central Business Register (CVR), AI-assisted content editing and self-service features that allow businesses to update their own information without accessing the Umbraco backoffice. These improvements have automated several workflows and simplified daily administration.
